The challenge

Delivering flexibility, scalability & personalisation on Shopify Plus.

Already enjoying the power of Shopify Plus, Abbott Lyon was ready for a new look, greater personalisation, and an upgrade to Shopify’s Online Store 2.0. “High on the brand’s agenda was to take advantage of 2.0’s new features and functionality to deliver greater flexibility and in-house control,” says Scott MacDonald, Client Services Director at blubolt. “We delivered on this with a series of editable templates and a raft of new third-party integrations.”

The solution

A fresh bespoke theme to convey affordable luxury.

We delivered a sleek theme design with muted accents and quality photography to allow the products to take centre stage,” says Maddy Gale, Design Lead at blubolt. “It’s also consistent with Abbott Lyon’s new branding, which focuses on affordable luxury. Another key design element was incorporating product personalisation into the product pages to align with the brand’s new “Made More You” tagline. We’ve designed this user-friendly and intuitive way on the new site.”

“Built with Shopify’s Online Store 2.0, we utilised every option to help Abbott Lyon personalise the customer experience and products,” says Jon MacKinnon, Tech Lead at blubolt. “For example, on the product detail page for the brand’s ‘Signature Name Necklace’, customers can personalise the product by choosing chain length, the inscription, and adding their birthstone drop pendant.” The Shopify Plus new site also offers luxury gifting with gorgeous gift bags, complete with a personalised wax stamp seal!

“Taking personalisation to even greater heights, we built a product “visualiser” to help customers see what their bespoke piece of jewellery will look like before purchase,” says Pooja Dhanda, Account Manager at blubolt. “For example, on the Zodiac Coin Necklace, customers can select their preferred finish (gold or silver), Zodiac sign (e.g. Taurus, Scorpio, etc), birthstone, and initial. This exact necklace configuration is then visible in 2D on the product page, allowing customers to tweak it as they wish.”
