Delivering barista-quality experiences on Shopify Plus.
Rave Coffee was already on Shopify Plus, but wanted a full redesign using Online Store 2.0. The goal was more than aesthetics: they needed a platform that supported a smooth, engaging customer journey, particularly for subscriptions, while giving the team greater flexibility and control in-house. Success meant increasing conversions, growing subscription uptake, and improving long-term customer retention.



Redesign grounded in the customer journey.
We approached the project with a journey-led growth mindset by mapping the customer journey, identifying friction points, and building solutions that could deliver measurable business growth.
1. Flexible, high-performing Shopify 2.0 build.
Built on Shopify’s Online Store 2.0, the new Rave Coffee site blends performance with personality. The design captures Rave’s energetic brand and commitment to taking customers on a journey through coffee using bold splashes of the signature yellow, distinctive grind icons, and clean, fast-loading layouts that guide users smoothly from discovery to checkout.
Beyond aesthetics, the new build gives Rave complete creative control. Every page element - from hero banners to product icons - can be updated in-house without code, allowing the team to launch campaigns, tweak messaging, and promote products instantly. This combination of dynamic design and operational flexibility delivers a consistently high-quality user experience that’s easy to manage and built to scale.
2. Tailored, educational subscriptions with bags of personality.
Rave Coffee considers its subscriptions a coffee apprenticeship – customers learn more with every cup they drink. In partnership with Recharge, we created a guided personality-filled subscription experience where customers choose coffee style, grind, delivery frequency, delivery date and bag quantity. Handily, a pop-up calculator also checks how many cups the customer drinks per day and then calculates how many bags are needed! The journey ends with a summary page that reassures customers before purchase, reducing friction and boosting conversion.
3. Enhanced post-launch growth services.
Post-launch, our journey-led growth approach focused on optimisation. Using CRO and behavioural analytics, we identified that nearly 96% of users dropped out before viewing search results, despite higher conversion rates for search users. By redesigning the search bar’s visual hierarchy and usability, we improved engagement with the search function, particularly for mobile users, resulting in increased conversions and revenue per visitor.

The redesigned site delivers a streamlined, educational subscription experience, while ongoing growth services continue to evolve the entire user experience. By focusing on the end-to-end customer journey, Rave Coffee now enjoys a flexible, high-performing website that drives measurable business growth.
