Shopify costs & pricing in the UK 2025.
As a Shopify Premier Partner agency, blubolt helps brands scale stores through journey-led growth. One of the first questions clients ask is: “What will Shopify cost me in 2025?” and “How do I know which is the right Shopify Plan for me?”.
In this post, we’ll break down the Shopify pricing plans, associated fees, extra costs, and pointers to help you choose wisely.
Shopify monthly plans: breakdown & recommendations.
Below is a deeper dive into each plan, including what you get, trade-offs, and the type of merchant we typically recommend for those plans.
1. Basic - £19/month.
The Basic plan provides a full online store with a custom domain, two staff accounts, and tools such as abandoned cart recovery.
Fees: 2.0% + £0.25 per transaction with Shopify Payments.
Why it’s great. Affordable, easy to set up, and comes with all the essentials.
Limitations. Basic reports, only two staff accounts, fewer inventory locations (10 in total).
When we usually recommend it. Perfect for small UK brands launching their first store. If you’re moving from marketplaces like Etsy or Amazon, this plan gives you a professional presence without overcomplicating things.
2. Grow - £49/month.
This plan adds professional reports, five staff accounts, better shipping discounts, and international pricing.
Fees: 1.7% + £0.25 per transaction with Shopify Payments.
Why it’s great. You get better insights, more room for your team, and lower fees on transactions.
Limitations. Higher monthly cost compared to the Basic plan, though reduced transaction fees with growing sales usually offset this.
When we usually recommend it. If you’re consistently generating monthly revenue of £10k–£50k, the savings on fees and access to richer reporting justify the upgrade. Additionally, it's a good starting point if you’re considering selling internationally.
3. Advanced - £259/month.
The Advanced plan gives you advanced reports, third-party calculated shipping, custom international pricing, and 15 staff accounts.
Fees: 1.5% + £0.25 per transaction with Shopify Payments.
Why it’s great. Lower transaction fees save money at high volumes, and analytics help you optimise growth. This tier also provides additional functionality for internationalisation, including local storefronts (enabling you to adapt your store’s layout, imagery, and messaging for different markets) and multi-currency payouts.
Limitations. Higher fixed cost, so it only makes sense if your sales volume supports it.
When we usually recommend it. If you’re doing £100k+ per month or planning global expansion, this plan makes a lot of sense. The reduced transaction fees quickly offset the higher subscription, and advanced analytics allow marketing and operations teams to optimise at scale. We’ve recommended this package to plenty of clients over the years, including The Dormy House and Case Furniture.
4. Plus - from USD 2,300/month (custom pricing).
This is the enterprise-level plan, which includes unlimited staff accounts, 200 inventory locations, lower third-party translation fees (if you’re not using Shopify Payments), full data access for custom apps, and up to 25 headless storefronts.
In addition, the “Just for Plus” features include exclusive API access and endpoints, advanced automation, up to nine expansion stores, Shopify combined listings, bot protection, custom user groups, native wholesale/B2B, Launchpad scheduling tool, and custom checkout options.
Fees. Starting from USD 2,300/month for a three-year term.
Why it’s great. Maximum flexibility, priority 24/7 phone and live chat support, and built for serious scale.
Limitations. Higher costs make it unsuitable for smaller merchants.
When we usually recommend it. For brands generating £1m+ annually, operating multiple stores, or requiring complex customisations. If you’re ready to take your business to the enterprise level, this is the plan to consider. Most of our clients migrate to the Plus plan, including Snowdonia Cheese, Bella Freud, and Illumicrate.
Considerations when choosing your Shopify plan.
Beyond the upfront plan prices, here are the key factors that we always evaluate with clients:
Transaction fees & savings.
Even though subscription cost is fixed, payment processing and transaction fees often represent a larger slice of your “cost of sale.” If you use Shopify Payments, you avoid Shopify’s added “transaction fee” (only pay card charges). But card rates vary by plan (e.g. 2.0% → 1.5%) so higher plans often justify themselves with savings.
Staff accounts.
Growing teams will need the flexibility of mid-tier or advanced plans.
Reporting & insights.
Basic reporting may suffice early on, but scalable growth demands deeper insights Advanced and Plus unlock behaviour, cohort, and custom reports.
International selling.
If you plan to sell internationally, features like multiple domains, local currencies, pricing per region are critical. As such, you’ll need features in Standard, Advanced, or Plus.
Scalability.
Ensure your plan matches both current needs and growth goals. For example, when your order volume is high, lower margins on transaction fees pay back the higher fixed cost. You need to balance fixed versus variable costs.
Apps & add-ons.
Your plan is just one part. You’ll need to budget for theme, apps (some free, many subscription), and custom dev or integrations. Hidden or “add-ons” costs for functionality like loyalty, reviews, and personalisation can sneak up if not carefully planned.
POS costs.
If you have a retail presence, combining Shopify’s POS system cost (software and hardware) is necessary to budget
Cashflow.
Annual billing can save money (25% on the subscription fee), but evaluate flexibility versus cost. You can always upgrade, but not downgrade, so factor that in.
Deeper advice, not just prices on paper.
At blubolt, we don’t just look at plan prices on paper; we build detailed projections tailored to your business. We work closely with our clients to model revenue and transaction volumes, pinpointing the optimal Shopify plan for long-term growth.
We take your key business metrics, both domestic and international, to calculate your projected revenue, average order value, and number of transactions. For each plan, we then calculate the break-even point for upgrade cost versus fee savings to choose the best-fit plan (Basic, Grow, Advanced, or Plus). Our model includes:
Baseline fees for the Shopify platform.
Transaction charges based on your average order value and expected volume.
Estimated Shopify Payments fees, so you can see what you’ll actually pay per sale.
Third-party payment provider costs (necessary if you operate in regions where Shopify Payments isn’t supported or if you choose to use an external provider).
